As one grows old(er!)there is this realization that you can't and don't have to make and keep everyone happy-it's time to unlearn/relearn the 'patthi' one has been indoctrinated with-that women have to be perfect otherwise they will be treated with disapproval, contempt, pity and so on.

I don't remember who said it, but someone did say something simple and profound which we may do well to imbibe-no one can can make us feel inferior without our consent and approval.
